| Establishing
an Order (cont'd)
Once the
non-custodial parent is located and paternity is established, we
will get a child support order. A child support order will
tell how much child support and/or medical support the
non-custodial will need to pay to the custodial parent. The
order will be set based on Colorado's Child Support Guidelines. Child support orders have the full
force of the law. If your case involves working across state
lines, the guideline from the other state may be used to set the
child support amount, but the order will have the same force as
law in Colorado.
